This is going to be a huge step in the right direction for us. " A new video for the unrelenting track, "Unanswered, " was recently completed by renowned director Jerry Clubb (As I Lay Dying, Unearth) and is composed of live footage from this past summer's "Rockstar Energy Mayhem " tour. Soilwork MySpace Page TESTAMENT ("Live at Eindhoven") Before Wacken, there was Dynamo. For 20 years, the Dynamo Open Air Festival -- originally held in 1986 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Dynamo rock club in Eindhoven, Holland -- was one of metal's most important annual events, peaking in 1995 when 118,000 fans packed the grounds of an abandoned Dutch military airport to see four dozen acts play on three different stages over three June days. In 1987, though, Dynamo was still in its infancy. For that matter, so was the performer who would leave the biggest mark on the event that year -- Bay Area thrashers Testament. After their debut album, "The Legacy," made instant waves worldwide, the group was invited to make their European debut at the second Dynamo festival. After a "warm-up" show at the 300-capacity Dynamo club the night before, Testament took the stage on a rainy June 8 and floored the 14,000 fans in attendance with an aggressive, fiery 45-minute set that showcased much of the material on "The Legacy." Five songs from their performance were captured on the EP "Live at Eindhoven ," which was issued as a cassette and a 12" LP. However, the band's full set was never released officially -- until now. Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the April 14 release of "Live at Eindhoven '87," which for the first time brings you Testament's complete 1987 Dynamo performance. A metal history lesson of the highest order, "Live at Eindhoven '87" sees the group's original lineup -- vocalist Chuck Bill y, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Louie Clemente -- at their absolute hungriest. Their Dynamo set included the following tracks: 1. Disciples of the Watch 2. The Haunting 3. Apocalyptic City 4. First Strike Is Deadly 5. Burnt Offerings 6. Alex Skolnick guitar solo 7. Over The Wall 8. Do Or Die 9. Curse of the Legion of Death (C.O.T.L.O.D.) 10. Reign of Terror Featuring a stunning remastered sound, new artwork by Carson Slovak (Century, All That Remains, Antagonist) and liner notes by Skolnick, "Live at Eindhoven '87" is a must-have for Testament fans both old and new. Excerpts from the album's liner notes can currently be viewed on Skolnick's "Skolnotes" blog (http://skolnotes. blogspot. com/2008/11/eindhoven. html), while the above-mentioned version of "Disciples of the Watch" can be heard at www.myspace.com/ProstheticReissues. The Prosthetic Webshop (store. prostheticrecords.com) is offering $12 pre-orders. In addition to recently re-releasing Testament's 1997 album "Demonic" -- hailed as "the most evil-sounding album of their career" (AMG) -- and 1999's "The Gathering" (praised by Metal Hammer as the most important metal album of the late '90s), as well as the 2001 re-recordings collection "First Strike Still Deadly," Prosthetic has also just reissued "Demonic" and "The Gathering" on gatefold, etched double-vinyl. Strictly limited to 1,000 copies each, each pressing also includes 100 colored LPs (gold for "The Gathering," red for "Demonic"). Metal Legends Testament Dean Guitars and Dolphin Music bring you! CAULDRON (PLAY DEBUT UK SHOW AT ANVIL MOVIE PREMIERE) Toronto heavy metal heroes CAULDRON have played their first ever UK show - but this was a show unlike any the band had ever played before. Unlike the typical gig in a cramped, sweaty nightclub, the setting for CAULDRON's first show on British soil is a much more spectacular one. The band opened for fellow Canadian legends ANVIL at the top-secret premiere for the new documentary movie, "Anvil! The Story of Anvil", performing at the screening infront of thousands of film critics, industry insiders, and a handful of lucky fans. CAULDRON frontman JASON DECAY, who has a brief appearance in the film, describes the surreal event: "On Sunday we played our first show in London at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, it was big enough to get lost in and we fucken played with ANVIL our old friends which was fucken awesome for our first show in London. "We've played shows with Anvil before in Canada but none of them were as huge as this. The shit hit the fan and the rice exploded all over the place, even in the beer which disappeared. It was one big party, we got rite fucked rite up drunk and we intend to do the same tomorrow in London at our show with Gama Bomb. The show tomorrow will be our first full set on UK soil and it should be great." Check out a photo of CAULDRON together with ANVIL backstage at the premiere at http://earacherecords.com/myspace/CauldronAnvil. jpg CAULDRON's debut album, CHAINED TO THE NITE is due to be released through Earache Records on April 6th, 2009. The album will be released on Reform Records/Rock Ridge Music . Cycle of Pain will be playing several local shows in February and will open for Black Label Society later this spring. All tour dates are listed below. John “J.D.” DeServio’s career as a bassist can be defined only as formidable and impressive. His time spent with Black Label Society has taken him around the world and made him a sought after bassist for clinics from Japan to South America and back. But long before he began globetrotting, J.D. started out like most accomplished musicians, in the garage with a band and a bottle of Captain Morgan. Twenty-five years later, that same band has emerged as Cycle of Pain with an intense and diverse self titled hard rock album. At 15 years old, J.D. began practicing his favorite Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Scorpions tunes with good friends Joe Taylor (guitar) and Gregg Locascio (drums/vocals). Despite the many high profile moments in their careers (Lita Ford, Vinnie Moore, Drill, Rich Kotzen and many more), the old band has always aspired to record and tour together. Cycle of Pain later added Rich Monica (Tantric) on drums. With J.D. and Taylor ’s prior musical commitments, it took a lot for the old band to come together and record the 13 track album, which has already been lauded by many of Black Label’s biggest fans. Though rooted in metal, the album’s 13 tracks delve into elements of funk, hip-hop, and soul, and they offer enough ammo to rock both in the clubs and on the radio. Cycle of Pain also features many guest performances by such credible names as Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy), Ray Luzier (Korn) Brian Tichy ( Bill y Idol), Sen Dog (Cypress Hill), Russ-T Cobb, Hugo Ferreira (Tantric), Marcus Ratzenboeck (Tantric), Clip Payne (P-funk), Burton (Fear Factory) & Russell Allen (Symphony X). Taylor sees the band as a modern twist on the bands that originated metal. “I think we’re a band that is much needed in the scene today,” Taylor comments. “Cycle of Pain is basically what all of us are missing when we go to a show.” The album will be released on April 21st, 2009, and Cycle of Pain will begin its tour that same day opening for Black Label Society. “We’re part of a family tree that started with Black Sabbath,” adds J.D. “From there came Ozzy with Randy Rhoads, then eventually Ozzy with Zakk. Zakk started the whole Black Label thing, which I became a part of, and we’ve now reached the point where I have my own project in the same line of such huge names as Osbourne and Iommi, Rhoads and Wylde. It’s a good place to be in.” www.myspace.com/cycleofpain PARIA (TO RELEASE THE BAND’S MOST INTRICATE ALBUM TO DATE, ‘THE BARNACLE CORDIOUS,’ ON MARCH 17) The disease that infiltrates the current trend in music has been diagnosed, and the prescribed treatment is upcoming Paria release, “The Barnacle Cordious.” Care, detail, consternation and collective intuition lay the foundation for what will prove to be Paria’s most respected album to date. “Knee jerk reactions are the intention of this record, whether or not anyone agrees that these reactions are good ones, this album stands on its own. I’m fully prepared to defend that notion,” guitarist John Claus said about the effort. Paria is aware of the importance of improvement and honing new skills, and while statements such as these may remain trite, “The Barnacle Cordious” is anything but cliché. “The Barnacle Cordious” track listing: 1. The Barnacle Cordious 2. Circus 3. The Wallabee Dance Machine 4. Pish-Posh 5. Bomb 6. Rabid McFlygrid 7. Thrash 8. Be 9. This new release is the follow-up to the band’s #1 Billboard charting DVD, LIVE DOMINANCE (released September of 2008) which left fans “Picking their teeth up off the floor” and “sounding immense” according to Outburn. The songs on FOR THE LIONS were carefully selected by HATEBREED to represent a panoramic view of some of their favorite artists and greatest musical inspirations. Having completed the album in 2008, the band felt their work wasn’t done yet and just returned to the studio with original guitar player Wayne Lozinak to record additional tracks for the album. The 4 new covers are among the most bludgeoning the band has yet to record. These include, “Ghosts Of War” (Slayer), “Supertouch/Shitfit (Bad Brains), “Thirsty (Black Flag) and “Suicidal Maniac” (Suicidal Tendencies). FOR THE LIONS was produced, engineered and mixed by long-time band associate Chris "Zeuss" Harris. For a preview of “Suicidal Maniac”, please click on www.myspace.com/hatebreed. In additional HATEBREED news, the band announces the departure of guitar player Sean M. Martin welcoming back to the fold original guitarist Wayne Lozinak Front man Jamey Jasta says, “I speak on behalf of all of us and we support Sean's decision to leave and want him to be happy and successful at everything he does. There are no bad feelings at all and you'll probably see him hanging on stage at some of our local shows. We're family and he will be missed but HATEBREED will forge on.” Sean M. Martin comments "After 10 years, I've decided to leave HATEBREED. This in no way reflects my personal relationship with Jamey, Chris, Matt and Frank, they're four of my closest friends and I'll always love them with all my heart. MUNICIPAL WASTE (TO RECORD NEW ALBUM IN MARCH) EARACHE recording artists, MUNICIPAL WASTE are set to start work on recording their new, yet to be titled album this March at Red Planet Studios in their hometown of Richmond, VA. The album will be produced by Zeuss, who had produced the band's last album, THE ART OF PARTYING. The writing process for the new record is almost complete and the band is excited about bringing new ideas to the table. Frontman Tony Foresta comments: "So far the song writing is coming off a lot more aggressive than our previous efforts." Drummer Dave Witte agrees: "This set of new songs are challenging and super fun to play, we turned up the aggressive and speed knobs while keeping the good time intact." THE ART OF PARTYING was released in 2007 to great reviews and hailed the dawn of of the most intense shows that MUNICIPAL WASTE shows have played throughout World. Looking ahead, Tony Foresta is enthused about the direction that the band's writing has taken them on the new album: "I think it is a definite change from our last 2 albums. Nothing super drastic, but a positive change. The WASTE is still all about having a good time. But I think we all agreed on writing something a bit more pissed off and different with this album, Instead of going ahead and writing the same album all over again. But don't fear were not getting "artistic" or any bullshit like that. We've just been listening to a lot more Poison Idea and NWOBHM and I feel it might show a bit with this next album." The band have announced 3 song titles which promises to entirely new levels of intensity and insanity in a style that is pure WASTE : Massive Aggressive Shredded Offering The Divine Blasphemer The new MUNICIPAL WASTE album is expected to be released worldwide on EARACHE RECORDS in late August 2009. Gabriel will be available everywhere March 17th, 2009. “The artwork for Gabriel was born from the talents of Michael Rosner (Roz) and Eye Level Studios. Working with Roz and the Eye Level team has been nothing short of amazing. The talent of these individuals is staggering and we found ourselves residing in the same crazy, pancake eating, warped dimension when it came to visual concepts. We tossed many ideas around with Roz but the main focus was to have the artwork compliment the music and vice-versa. Gabriel has been an artistic collaboration on many levels and the finished product truly highlights the incredible talents of Roz and the Eye Level team. We're not finished yet, so stay tuned for more Believer/Eye Level madness.” Kurt Bachman Gabriel track listing: 1. Medwton 2. A Moment In Prime 3. Stoned 4. Redshift 5. History Of Decline 6. The Need For Conflict 7. Focused Lethality 8. Shut Out The Sun 9. The Brave 10. Nonsense Mediated Decay Formed in the mid eighties, BELIEVER gained worldwide recognition for their boundary-breaking, artistic form of extreme metal as a part of Roadrunner Records prog-metal/thrash campaign “The Breed Beyond” alongside Cynic and Pestilence. After a long hiatus, BELIEVER is back with an intense fury and the band’s new record, Gabriel, once again sees Believer conquering new musical and artistic territory. With an upgraded sound and songwriting that has been alluded to as a “sick, insane cross between Tool, Voivod, NIN, and Destruction”, Believer’s 4th release Gabriel shows a band simply not focused on regurgitating and reliving their past. To this end, Bachman and Daub have surrounded themselves with new creative blood in keyboardist/programmer Jeff King, guitarist Kevin Leaman and bassist/programmer Elton Nestler. Securing a new home with legendary Metal Blade Records, Believer is determined to win over fans of old and new with their brand of ‘Believer-esque’ metal. http://www.myspace.com/believerband HOME |
