Due to Visa problems, German thrash legends SODOM have been forced to cancel their upcoming U.S.dates. The dates affected include May 26th in Hollywood, CA, May 28th in New York, NY, and their appearance at Maryland Deathfest scheduled for May 29th. SODOM have issued a statement on the tour cancellation: "Due to solid problems with our local tour promoter and getting our Visa in time, we are forced to cancel the upcoming shows. We already had our suitcases packed and were ready to go. We are awfully sorry to take these steps, but everybody acquainted with the entering provisions of the USA knows what we're talking about. We are deeply disappointed by this situation, but in the end there's the awareness, that not everything is done to our entire satisfaction. We are "only" the musicians, who would have loved to rock the USA again. We owe this to our fans, even more because we made ourselves scarce in the US since the foundation of this band, of course through no fault of our own. The one who botched this up will have to be confronted with the local organizers and club owners and account for his faults. We surely will catch up on these shows as soon as possible, which we especially owe to our fans. The band will enter the studio during the coming months to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release. Bassist/vocalist Tom Angelripperrecently stated about the group's new material, "There has never been a SODOM album which is so wide-ranged, as powerful and as typically SODOM as this one. SODOM issued the "Lords of Depravity - Part I" DVD in the U.S. on February 21, 2006 via SPV. Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane is turning out to be an album of many firsts for the revered front man of influential bands such as Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom and Fantômas. Not only is the album Patton’s first Italian language release as well as his first outing with a full orchestra, the album also finds him landing on Billboard’s Classical Album chart for the first time. Mondo Cane, which was released by Ipecac Recordings on May 4, entered the Billboard Classical Album chart at # 2, an unexpected twist on a chart that regularly features the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Il Divo. The eleven-song album was years in the making with Patton selecting pieces from the great Italian composers and pouring over every detail for this labor of love. An update from The Absence: In unfortunate news, Justin Reynolds, drummer for THE ABSENCE was involved in a bad automobile accident last week in Sarasota, Florida.
