Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com:  Hey Paul, what’s new? I see your writing an autobiography due to be released in book stores on June 3, 2002. What made you decide to do an autobiography?

Paul Dianno: Well I have been approached many times in the past. But this time it felt like it was the right time to do it and I know that there are a lot of people out there waiting to read this book.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: What will the fans learn from the book that they don’t already know? Can you give any juicy details?

Paul Dianno: Everything! I have tried to make this book totally honest and revealing and to include all the unanswered questions that people have been waiting to hear for many years now. The fans should expect to learn more from this book than ever before.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: In being a great vocalist, who was your influences?

Paul Dianno: I must be honest and say that I never really had any major influences as a vocalist. However, the only possible vocalist that I have always admired is Rob Halford.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: What can the fans expect on this tour?

Paul Dianno: Old and new like a good fine wine that’s matured over the years. Plus my band Killers are really rocking and I don’t think there’s another band around to touch them at the moment.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: You’ve probably been asked this before, but what was it like fronting Iron Maiden and why did you decide to leave?

Paul Dianno: Fronting Maiden in those days was really marvelous. As for the rest, please read the book.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: In speaking of Iron Maiden, if Bruce ever decided to leave again, would you return? If not, why and don’t say “no comment”. (Laughs)

Paul Dianno: No I wouldn’t ever return because it’s the past now with some wonderful memories and that’s the way I’d always like to remember it.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: You produced several live albums. Is that where you’re most comfortable, in a live element as opposed to the studio?

Paul Dianno: Yea, I guess. I’ve always shone brightest during live performances as I tend to get restless in the recording studios. So I tend to perform at my peak during live shows.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: Rumor has it that you’ll be producing another album in 2002. How will it differ from past albums and if not in 2002, when can we expect a follow-up to “Nomad”?

Paul Dianno: Well it’ll probably be 2003 now as I feel that the next project will take a bit longer to finish than the previous ones. Hopefully, it’ll be original as that’s the way I work but I expect a bit of the “Nomad” spirit will creep in to it too.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com
: You’re always working with different musicians. What musicians will contribute or have been contributing to the next album?

Paul Dianno: My new Killers band for definite. Even though Cliff Evans (guitarist) is the only original member, I feel that the next album must feature these guys as they are so damn good.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: In speaking of past musicians, who was your favorite and worst to have worked with? Yes, we love gossip! (Laughs)

Paul Dianno: Well among the best was Paulo Turin and Killers and I’d rather not say who was amongst the worst. But check the book out and more will be revealed.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: Any memorable tour stories good or bad that you’d care to share?

Paul Dianno
: Really far too many to even contemplate.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: Who was your favorite band to tour with throughout the years and why?

Paul Dianno: Well favorites would have to be my Brazilian band that toured the “Nomad” album and my current line-up Killers.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: Will you have another studio release with Killers or will the next release be solo as “Paul Dianno”?

Paul Dianno: Both. I intend to make a solo album and an album with Killers that way I get the best of both worlds.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com
: What bands do you think are a bit overrated?

Paul Dianno: Limp Bizkit

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com
: The metal scene and industry seems to be making a comeback. What’s your opinion and where do you see “Paul Dianno” in 5 years?

Paul Dianno: I really don’t have a clue but hopefully I’m still out there playing live shows and making more albums. However, I’m not too convinced that there is much of a comeback of the metal scene.

Dawn/TheMetalWeb.com: It’s been a pleasure. Any final Words for The Metal Web!?

Paul Dianno: To all the people out there, who have supported me over the years, I shall be eternally grateful and I hope that my book will at last put pay to all the unanswered questions over the years.
